The Edgewood Independent School District has been around for many years. With only two high schools, community is a very important aspect to the members of the Toltechs, 499.

Members feel a sense of pride and accomplishment when the team works together to spread the values of the organization and competition, FIRST. While strengthening and preserving the interest of engineering in the San Antonio area, Toltech members work together to ensure cooperation with one another, in an effort to assist the needs of individuals, seeking knowledge in engineering. Age is no obstacle for the Toltechs, as the team assimilates with community members of all ages, and continues to reach the community of Edgewood I.S.D., since their creation in 2001.
