WEEK 1

JANUARY 7TH -- OUR KICK OFF
Our first official meeting with the robotics team was on January 7th 2005. On that day all of the team members and mentors met in our art gallery to view and discuss the game video that we were provided. After we watched the video we all headed up to a classroom where we discussed robot design and brainstormed ideas. All the team members got together in their own chosen groups and came up with their own design shown in the pictures below.

Out of all of our different designs the team came up with one basic design.

In our next meeting the builders got busy, building a practice planning field.

"Week one students build the game field goal elements. Students put together the kop chassis and inventoried the kit. Some very early designs where tested for the ball cannon but not used. Programmers dug deep into learning what was in the 2006 default code." -Mr. Andrew Schuetze

Jan 11, 2006 5:00pm - 7:00pm
- The electronics group put together the camera with the pan/tilt mechism.
- The green target is about 40% complete. They need wood glue to anchor the lights inside the box. Wiring needs to be completed. Power supply for the light? Battery? Transformer? Either way we need to run the wiring down the backboard.
- A group started to mock-up an OI and RC for testing the motors using the NI DAQ unit.
- The backboard is in place. They hit the height just about dead-on. If it's off by more than an inch I'd be suprised. Next step is to get the sides and platform built. It's tall, once the target light is attached we are likely going to be into the florescent lights.

We are calculating Trajectories of (ball launching). We also tried to how far we needed to be to score. It was a lot of work using trig and all these weird formulas but I think we are almost there!!!
