PRE-SEASON

Our first Pre-season meeting was a very memorable one.  We had a record turnout this year, with over 60 students.  Mr. Kelly briefed the students on the Toltech team and the sub-teams that the students would be involved in.  A representative from IGUS spoke to the team about their robotics parts and how they were involved in supporting FIRST.   San Antonio's very own Maclovio Perez, the morning weathercaster for News 4 WOAI Today, gave a very insightful and motivational speech at our preseason meeting as well.  This season started off with a bang!

ITT Workshop and On Board Visit -Maria Zuniga

It was the second Saturday of December. We hopped onto a school bus and took a trip to ITT tech. When we arrived at the campus, we where split into different groups depending on what we would be working on for the team, (web design, programming, mechanical, or electronics.) Web design was sent to work on Microsoft word and Front Page, Programming was sent to work on basic programming, Mechanical went to a workshop on gears and transmission, and Electronics went to a soldering workshop. After a couple of hours, we then walked across the street to On Board. Once there, the whole team stood for a few quick snapshots. Mr. Mather and Mr. Brakefield then showed us around On Board Software. It was an experience we'd never forget because, there were so many offices, computers, and a lot of interesting equipment that we couldn't touch.

AN ONBOARD EXPERIENCE -Ramiro Andrade

Well today we took a tour of the On Board building. It was a really awesome experience for me. I got to see what it was like for people to work on a team. Not that I'm not on a team but I mean on really big team. The whole atmosphere was comfortable. They like to work toward a certain motto "We work hard, We play hard!" Everyone there was very informative and tolerant of the massive number of high school students. The whole décor of the interior was kind of modern and cool. I mean it has to be modern because they have a whole bunch of engineers working there. The whole layout of the building was kind of weird compared to other offices. That place has everything it's got a daycare, a gym, a pool table, a BIG screen TV, it just goes on and on. All and All the whole experience was really awesome and to top it off we all left the building in stylish new pair of OFFICIAL OnBoard Sunglasses.

2005 Robot Goes On Parade

A few members of the team walked the annual Edgewood ISD Cinco de Mayo parade route with the robot towing a driver/operator.

Two weeks later the robot also drove off-road at the first annual EISD employee picnic. Mr. Schuetze and Ms. Doebbler took turns driving it around the fair grounds demonstrating the robust drive system and ability of the arm to flip the robot off it's backside.
